Geographically, Birtamod Municipality is in the Terai region of Nepal. It’s elevation is approximately 163m from the sea level. Most part of town lies in a proper plain land.  The municipality is located in Jhapa district of Province 1. It was established in 2073 BS after merging Garamani VDC with the then Birtamod Municipality. It is surrounded by Mechi Municipality in the east, Kankai Municipality in west, Arjundhara Municipality in north and Haldibari and Barhadshi Rural Municipality in the South.
