Power Potential of Nepal

 

An assessment of hydropower potential of Nepal was done in the year 2015 by Water and Energy Commission Secretariat; Nepal. According to the final report of the assessment done the gross hydropower potential of Nepal is estimated as 72544 MW. Similarly the techno economical hydropower potential of Nepal is estimated as 32680 MW. The new hydropower potential of Nepal by seven provinces is shared in the following chart. As per the chart Koshi basin incorporates highest hydropower potential (22619 MW) which is 31.2 % of total hydropower potential. Province 2 incorporates the lowest potential i.e. 275 MW which is 0.4% of the total potential.
